Client: Simcoe Muskoka Home Comfort — HVAC, Simcoe County & Muskoka

Engagement: SEO management, January 2026 – present

Results: Organic traffic up 15% year over year, top-3 rankings across Barrie, market dominance in Muskoka

The Situation

SMHC came to First Page Digital in January 2026 as a company that already believed in SEO. They’d been investing in it seriously for over a year with a previous provider — this wasn’t a neglected website or an owner who needed convincing.

But belief and results had drifted apart. Organic traffic was trending down year over year when I took over. Content had slowed to a trickle. And there was one gap you could drive a truck through: SMHC serves all of Muskoka — but nothing on the site targeted “Muskoka” itself. Individual towns like Gravenhurst and Bracebridge appeared here and there, but the single search term the entire region’s customers actually use was missing. A major market, invisible.

The diagnosis wasn’t that things were broken. It was that not enough was being done — and what was being done wasn’t aimed where the customers were.

What We Did

Built a real content system. Instead of occasional posts, SMHC got a structured program: keyword-targeted service pages, supporting blog content, and internal linking that tells Google exactly what each page is about and how they fit together. Content shipped on schedule, every month, aimed at the searches with jobs behind them.

Claimed the Muskoka market. Dedicated, properly targeted content for Muskoka and its towns — the region SMHC already served but search engines didn’t know it.

Kept the quality bar on the traffic. Growth is easy to fake with junk visitors. The engagement rate on SMHC’s organic traffic held steady at 65% while volume grew — meaning every new visitor was as real as the old ones.

The Results

The trajectory (remember: traffic was declining at takeover):

Month

Organic traffic vs. same period last year

Month 1 (Jan 2026)

Organic search traffic stalled

Month 4

Back to even

Month 5

+5%

Month 6

+15%

Rankings:

  • Barrie HVAC terms: mid-first-page → consistently top 3
  • Muskoka HVAC terms: effectively invisible → dominant across the region

Traffic quality: 65% engagement rate maintained through the growth — identical to the pre-growth baseline. No junk, no inflation.

A channel that didn’t exist a year ago: SMHC now receives measurable traffic from AI assistants (ChatGPT, Perplexity, and similar) — visitors arriving with engagement quality nearly matching organic search. As more customers ask AI instead of Google, SMHC is already visible there. Most of their competitors aren’t.

“Stephen is great to deal with, I strongly recommend using First Page Digital for all your SEO and website design needs.” — Dan LeBlanc, Owner, Simcoe Muskoka Home Comfort

The Fine Print (Because Honest Numbers Matter)

  • Comparison periods: June 15 – July 12, 2026 vs. the same window in 2025 (Google Analytics 4, all users).
  • “Top 3” and “dominant” reflect tracked ranking positions for SMHC’s primary commercial keywords as of July 2026.
  • SEO compounds. SMHC’s results took four months to turn the corner and six to hit +15%. Anyone promising page one in 30 days is selling you something else.

Your Market Has a Spot Like This One

I work with one company per trade, per market. SMHC holds the HVAC spot in Barrie and Orillia — which means I can never do this for their competitors.
